Financial Services — Nunua na Kadi (Buy with Your Card)
In Kenya, cash has long been king. From buying groceries at the kiosk to paying bus fare, people feel most in control when money is in their hands. Yet with this comfort came risks, theft, loss, and a lack of transparency. Many believed bank cards were only for ATM withdrawals, while others feared fraud if they dared to swipe at a till. The campaign turns what feels like a “big city” practice into a relatable, local action. With a straightforward promise, “Kadi yako ya benki ni salama na rahisi” (Your bank card is safe and simple), it reassures consumers that cards weren’t risky luxuries, but a smarter, safer way to shop. The campaign is shifting perceptions; staff are encouraging card use instead of defaulting to cash and merchants are seeing cards as a secure alternative to handling bundles of notes. Most importantly, cardholders are using their debit cards beyond the ATM. This campaign is developed and implemented by the CBCC for Visa.
