KENYA TUKAE CHONJO is a human-centred social action campaign that rallies each mtaa (neighbourhood) across Kenya to attain “Chonjo” status alert, informed, and protected. It responds to deep insights: low risk perception, vaccine hesitancy, infodemic threats, access barriers, and weak social norms. By empowering trusted local influencers to lead the narrative, it rebuilds motivation and self-efficacy in communities fatigued by COVID messaging. Through relatable, locally crafted content, it nurtures belief in vaccine safety, encourages completion of doses, and fosters collective accountability. This isn’t business as usual it’s a bold, people-powered movement to restore communal health and solidarity, one mtaa at a time. The campaign is funded by USAID and implemented by CBCC in partnership with Ministry of Health and other partners.
