COVID-19 remains a serious threat in Kenya with approximately only 30% of Kenyan population fully vaccinated to date. This is amidst a 6th wave in late June into July 2022 that has seen COVID-19 positivity rates increase rapidly in the last one month to 9.6% from a low of 0.2% earlier in the year. Compliance to protection measures have been on a steady decline with increased low risk perception, high hesitancy rates fueled by increasing myths and misconceptions, perceived relaxation of the mask mandate, pandemic fatigue and vaccine safety and efficacy concerns.
