Home / Child Protection in Emergencies

Project information

Emergencies such as floods, droughts, epidemics (such as the COVID-19 pandemic), as well as conflicts amplify pre-existing social and economic problems faced by children affecting the child protection safety nets at individual, household, and community level. In situations where interventions are not employed, children & communities adopt negative coping mechanisms which leads to issues such as inability to continue with learning, child marriage, child labour, among others. Child Protection in Emergencies (CPiE) is about making all efforts to prevent, protect and respond to abuse, neglect, exploitation, and violence against children before, during, and in the aftermath of an emergency.
